Vermiculite – Absorbent Material

Liquid dangerous goods shipments via airfreight may require additional requirements. Inner packaging’s containing liquids must be surrounded with enough absorbent material to absorb the entire liquid contents of the inner packaging(s).

Vermiculite has characteristics of lightweight, inorganic (incombustible), compressible, highly absorbent, non-reactive and disease free.

Grade 4 vermiculite is ideal for shipping applications since it is the coarsest with the least amount of dust.

When used in conjunction with a potential flammable liquid, vermiculite does not render the fluid non-flammable, neutral or less hazardous. Saturated absorbent containing flammable liquids should be disposed of promptly. Appropriate precautions should always be taken when handling packing material that has been contaminated with any in-transit spillage of hazardous materials.

1 kg of Vermiculite will usually be sufficient in combination with our 4GV/X9 packaging.

3-4 kg of Vermiculite will usually be sufficient in combination with our 4GV/X31 packaging.
